August 2008: Where does it come from?

I don't know where it comes from, but I'm happy it's back! Inspiration for writing new material! Maybe it's because I took some relaxing time by writing songs for a couple of solo projects. From the crazy a capella vocals from "Franc et les Centimes" to the pure singer/songwriting song of John C Fraser. I've done it all last year but somehow I couldn't manage to write new Monsieur Cannibale songs. Now the summer has set in and I finally found some time to relax, the new songs seem to come as if it doesn't take any effort to write them. Which is a big relief for me, and for the band. Because now we've got a range of songs we can choose from for the new record. The new record which is going to be exciting and the best you've ever heard from us till date. At least... that's what we think :)
The release is also going to be special, but more on that in a later stadium.. It still takes 6 more months before the record might be ready!

So what else have I done the last couple of weeks? I went to see Tori Amos on the Dranouter festival in Belgium. Which was the 6th time I've seen her live. And somehow she manages to give a completely different performance over and over again! Besides that I've ofcourse been watching the soccer tournaments, the Tour the France and the Olympic Games (as I am watching right now). What else to do when you have summer holidays being a teacher? :)

As for the music I've been listing to a few cool things: Headphone from Belgium, the Blood Red Shoes, Elbow, Feist, Newton Faulkner, Kleerup and ofcourse the new Notwist record. All artists you should own at least one record from!!!
Here some movies for some inspiration :)

See you on the road!!!
